  26. However, in theory, and I believe also in practice, Kermit won't let you
  27. set the serial port to a speed it does not support.  MS-DOS Kermit 3.14
  28. handles 14400 and 28800 bps just fine, as far as I know, by setting the
  29. UART's hardware "baud rate divisor" register to the appropriate value.

  31. C-Kermit depends on the underlying operating system, hardware, and drivers
  32. to do the same, and to report back accurately whether they have, in fact,
  33. done so.  I grant you, there are cases where the underlying services fail
  34. to do these things properly so, yes, this too can be a consideration.
